Benjamin S. Proto Jr. was born and raised in Connecticut; and has been living in Stratford since 1986, where his practice is located. Before starting his own practice in 2003, Ben served as Counsel and Chief Counsel to the Connecticut House Republican Caucus and served as an Attorney with the Office of Consumer Counsel of the State of Connecticut.

- Ben attended New Hampshire College, now known as Southern New Hampshire University, and graduated in 1981, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Economics and Finance. He graduated from New York Law School in 1985.

Experience:
- Served as Assistant Town Attorney for the Town of Stratford from 1989-1995.
- Served as Counsel and Chief Counsel to the House Republican Caucus of the Connecticut General Assembly from 1987-1996.
- Attorney with the Office of Consumer Counsel of the State of Connecticut from 1996-2002, where at that time, he negotiated the largest rate case settlement in Connecticut, with Southern Connecticut Gas Company.
- Ben has received approvals for the largest multi-use water front development in Stratford. In addition, Ben has gotten approvals for the largest active-adult housing development in Stratford and subsequently obtained the necessary approvals to convert it to an all age development. Ben has represented Cumberland Farms, Inc before numerous land use boards and commissions in Connecticut, having gotten each application for a new or refurbished site approved.
